I’ve been a fan of Jott for a while now and have been using it, both as a dial in and iPhone app, to help capture anything and everything. It’s way better than the iPhone’s native voice recorder in every way but one (see next paragraph), since you get inifintely more usable text as opposed to a playlist of audio snippets in iTunes.
I use it mostly to send voice notes to OmniFocus via gmail and the OmniFocus / Apple Mail +omnifocus intgration. Omnifocus is literally my salvation when it comes to task organization. I seriously don’t know how I got anything done or, deeper still, worked within a GTD framework without it and the awesome location aware iPhone OmniFocus app.
Anyway, Jott‘s been great at piping their voice-to-text snippets to numerous other services, and rules when driving as there’s just no way to drive and capture to text while attempting to resemble a responsible driver. My only real gripe is that it abruptly, and without warning or confirmation, cuts you off after 30 seconds. I must have talked to myself for several minutes that first day I used Jott and been left with clipped transcriptions. Fun times…
I congratulate them on their sale and hope it helps them get to where they want to be…
