MUSIC:reflections for 2022-06-03

Another likely stellar ladies’ week with new albums from Poliça and Angel Olsen, and singles from Beth Orton (!), St. Vincent, Maggie Rogers and Purity Ring. If you’re into 1990’s indie rock, Horsegirl sound super promising. Finally, some jammy, funky, groovy releases from Lettuce, Tedeschi Trucks Band and an archival live release from Bob Marley & The Wailers. Happy listening and subscribe to the weekly email updates.

Last Week’s Distilled Gems:

WhoMadeWho, Tosca, DJ Pippi & Willie Graff, Horse Meat Disco, Jazzuelle, Wilco, and jennylee all delivered with releases I went back to through the week.

Individual Releases:
Beth Orton – Weather Alive [ single ]

First new music in 4+ years and I think an album is coming (first in 6+ years). Go listen to Trailer Park if you don’t know it.

Yes, that Funkytown by Lipps Inc., and yes, it is from a Minions movie soundtrack, which I will be seeing, but it’s St. Vincent!
Poliça – Madness [ album ]
electronic, alternative
I first saw Poliça over a decade ago as my dear friend/business partner and I were at SXSW getting our startup launched. They were so good then that we ended up seeing them several more times.
Angel Olsen – Big Time [ album ]
indie rock, americana
Lord Huron – Your Other Life [ single ]

Another SXSW bit of lore, the same dear friend/business partner and I threw a party at SXSW and Lord Huron played. Good times…
